GRAPHIC DESIGNER

About

Conceptual yet approachable. Expressive and purposeful. Let’s make the eyes sing together :)

Hi there! I’m Joanna and this is a bit about me…

I double-majored in Fine Art and Visual Communication at the Raritan Valley Community College. After working for a national sign-making franchise, Signarama, for 2 years, I went on to continue my education at Rutgers University Newark where I majored in Graphic Design.

While at Rutgers University Newark, I minored in Art History and Studio Art. I participated in campus professional development courses where I was able to collaborate with peers, the Newark Community, and my professors. After 3 years of exhilarating study, I was honored to receive the Design Excellence award alongside my Cum Laude B.F.A specializing in Graphic Design.

Looking to be a shepard of creative inspiration, I took an opportunity to become an Art and Design educator for 9 to 12th graders. My time as an educator reinforced my belief in how important art is, especially during turbulent times like a pandemic.

My many career paths have led me to my current position as a Digital Designer for a global content creation platform, Foleon, where I have the pleasure of consulting business leaders on creating engaging digital content experiences.

My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to find the unifying thread that connects a web of concepts together. I ideate through word maps, visual matrices and moodboards to determine the conceptual unifier. Often, It leads me to a place of dualism.

For me, dualism isn’t just about divison, but rather, a multiplier. In life, there is no knowing light without knowing dark. There is no knowing pain without knowing joy. Life is an art that is full of duality. Ultimately, the deeper the understanding and welcoming of this balance the richer the creative outcomes.
